Cats sure love to run off with strange things. Rubber bands, bits of string, bugs. It seems like one of their favorite objects of all is that plastic seal that breaks off when you first open a jug of milk. Probably because of the way it tends to drop to the floor and go rolling.
A fun fact about the real Olive is that she tends to take this idea to the next level and is actually a bit of a kleptomaniac (one with an obsessive impulse to steal). Ever since we’ve had her in the house, tiny objects tend to come up missing or end up in a different place than where we left them. A favorite of hers is the tiny hair ties that belong to Georgia.
I guess it’s just another item on the list of quirks that come with cat ownership.
So the other day, I had the chance to speak at the Allen County Public library for an event called Kids and Comics. We had lots of fun coloring pages and making mini comics, but before that, I did a quick little Q & A session with the kids.
I got lots of great questions, but also happened to get one suggestion. Dress one of the cats up as Mario. I think it’s a really fun idea for a future comic, but for right now, here’s a quick illustration of Olivo. Happy Monday!
Ever see a youtube video called Fart Within the Matrix? It’s a bunch of clips from the movie with, you guessed it, fart sounds added in with hilarious timing.
In one clip, the Oracle is taking cookies out of the oven, and poses the question to Neo, “Smell good, don’t they?” It’s at this moment that Neo rips one and Matt falls to the floor laughing.
I think that’s where the idea for this strip came from. It’s hard to tell; my brain gets a little jumbled sometimes.
