No Olives Allowed
When we first got Olive, she tried to be a lap cat. The only problem was that Hazel is on my lap constantly and doesn’t like to share.
Any time Olive tried to climb on and be part of the group, Hazel would get furious and do the “pat, pat, pat, pat, pat” thing that I put in so many of the comics. I would always break them up and try to explain to Olive that she could sit with us, but she would always just accept that it wasn’t her spot and go sit by herself. It’s silly, but it still makes me a little sad sometimes.
My kids do this. either one gets jealous if the other is on my lap or mommy’s lap. And neither is content to sit on the other parent’s lap. Only the one that is currently occupied.
It happens with kids too?! ARG! 😉
Yes, with kids and toys too. A toy can be sitting there all day, nobody touches it. The moment one kid has the toy, they all want it that very same moment!
So true!
Aw, poor Olive. I know you got Hazel first and then Olive.
They are like little kids, the first one gets all the attention from Mom and Dad and when the second one comes around, it’s not easy sharing the attention.
I’m sure you try to balance everything out.
Loved your drawings !!!
Yeah, I hang out with Olive a lot after Hazel goes to bed. 🙂
Does she sneak some lap when Hazel’s in slumber? She needs to get a Lap-brador retriever to guard her spot!
Yeah, she does. She likes to hang out and watch me play video games, as we’ll see in an upcoming comic.
When I had both my cats, Blackie would love sleeping next to my face, Kali hated that and would pounce Blackie in the middle of the night to make her move. Eventually they came to a truce and they would each sleep next to my feet right up against my feet. One of them on each side.
Glad they finally worked out their differences! 🙂
I think it was more like a cold war at that point. Neither of them was happy with where they had to sleep but since they both had the same spot more or less they was happy the other one did not have a better sleeping spot.
