Merry Christmas to All and to All a Meow Meow
Ah, Christmas. That time of year when Olive makes it her sole mission in life to mess up the tree. I’m not sure what it is about the thing but she cannot leave it alone. The minute I had it set up this year, she ran at it full speed, dove into the skirt underneath and managed to roll herself up in the fabric like a Christmas cat burrito.
She’s also taken out a few ornaments in the past, which means most years, I leave all my sweet superhero ornaments in the box. Bummer.
So what about you other cat owners out there? Do you take any steps to keep your pets away from the tree?
I’m jewish
Well, that last part says, “And to all a Meow Meow.”
Meows are non-denominational. 🙂
All I can think of is in a non kitty area, (we don’t let them in the bedroom), put the ornaments on a small tree. Or, get out the box and look, then put them away, knowing you will have them next year.
One of my friends ties her ornaments to the tree, but that doesn’t prevent them from being broken… ðŸ™?
Our cats go EVERYWHERE! If there happens to be a room they can’t get into, Hazel makes a horrible howling noise, and Olive actually tears up the carpet.
I think we’ve spoiled them a little 🙂
With Floyd, he wouldn’t take out ornaments on purpose. He would wag his tail near the tree and send ornaments flying. We learned not to decorate the bottom two feet of the tree. Made it look quite interesting.
We gave that a shot this year. It worked really well. I think that’s the way to go.
We have to keep the entire lower layer of tree branches in the box each year because our cat Cocoa insists on munching the needles. We also put large wrapped empty boxes under the tree to keep the cats out. Silly us, we have four cats!
Wow! Four sounds like it could be a handful, ha ha! We have our hands full with two 🙂
All those sparkly, shiny things!! Girl can’t help herself! Very festive holiday strip, Matt. Happy holidays to you and your loved ones. Looking forward to another year of Olive and Hazel!
Thanks a lot, Mark! Happy Holidays to you and your family as well! There is a lot of fun lined up for 2012!
My cat gets every year one or two ornaments to destroy, then she’s happy. (she always gets the cheap ones^^)
I have no idea what cats love about christmas trees so much, but all I can say is that both my cats start climbing/destroying/eating it as soon as it’s set up. When we throw it out in January they seem incredibly sad, though.
And, merry christmas to you, too 😉 I really like your comic.
Thanks a lot - glad you like the comic! I’m a little late, but Merry Christmas 🙂
You like to decorate, and your cat likes to un-decorate.
We should really sit down and have a meeting with them every year. Destruction = Bad.
