Squirrel Power

Squirrels have a power over cats. Seriously. Cats can sit and watch squirrels for hours, forgetting where they are and what’s around them.

I’ve seen both Olive and Hazel charge at squirrels, forgetting that there’s a screen door between them and their prey. They bounce off the barrier, shake their heads and snap back into reality.

Do the squirrels know that they have this power over the cats? Are they toying with them? I think that may be the case.

It’s Time to Suit Up

Know what’s happening this weekend? It’s Summit City Comic Con! This year’s show is once again at the Grand Wayne Center in Fort Wayne, Indiana and runs from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday. Admission is $10 and free for kids 12 and under!

I will be there again this year selling print editions of CAAATS! along with my other book, The Troll and The Giant and an anthology of 24 Hour Comics from last October. I’ll also have print editions of Mystery Solved! the webcomic of skepticism and adventure. There will be plenty of prints available to purchase and I will be doing commissions all day long.

Last year’s show was a really awesome time, and this year should be even better. If you’re in or around Fort Wayne this weekend, stop by and say hello!

I Love You, Hazel!!!

Another one of Olive’s favorite tricks. Follow Hazel from room to room, staying just out of sight. When the moment if just right, do a vertical leap and then charge at Hazel.

I still haven’t figured out what the vertical leap is for. I think that part is just for show.

Beyond the Closet Lives Another Race

by Matt on June 1, 2021 at 12:01 am

Several months ago, a good friend of mine came to stay at our house. After watching movies and playing video games half the night, we decided to turn in.

Before my friend went to bed, he needed to grab a towel out of the hallway closet. He opened the door, grabbed the towel and shut the door, not realizing that while the door was open, Olive had slipped inside.

Eight hours passed, and we all woke up the next morning. As my wife made her way down the hall, she heard a faint, calm “meow” from inside the closet as if to say, “okay, I’m done in here.”

She opened the closet door, and Olive casually emerged. She had spent eight hours inside a closet without any form of commotion or protest. It made me wonder what she had been doing in there that whole time. Maybe she visited another world …
