It’s an exciting day here at CAAATS! as we’re starting the first major storyline featuring Olive and Hazel as … superheroes!
Things will be in a slightly different format than usual because the story is going to be spread out over a series of pages instead of an entire story in a single page. Basically, a comic book instead of a comic strip.
So why change things up? Well, while I love the strip format to death, I’m all for trying new things and pushing the boundaries a little. I’ve always been a huge superhero fan and I love those kinds of stories, so I thought why not give it a shot with the cats?
So with all that said, get nice and comfy and I’ll tell you the tale. Hee hee.
Yes, it’s true. Closed doors frighten Hazel. If she encounters one, she does everything she can to pry it open with her small paws, not because she needs to get through, but because the idea of a closed door feels entirely too limiting.
One morning when I was getting ready, Hazel noticed that the door was open, but only a little. Unsatisfied with the openness of the door, she began to pull at it with one paw in an attempt to get it open all the way. Suddenly, a black paw shot through the gap and nailed her between the eyes.
Hazel was not about to take this sitting down, and began to swing back at her attacker from behind the safety of the door. This continued for a little while, mostly because I was laughing too hard to break it up.
Eventually, I made may way to the door and flung it open. There sat Olive, wide-eyed and shocked that she had been caught. Her only option was retreat, and she scurried off into the shadows.
Easter is just around the corner, and with it comes sightings of large, anthropomorphic bunnies - a sight many would consider to be horrifying. It gets scarier yet when you picture the creatures coming into your house at night, leaving gifts for your children.
Luckily, we have Olive the watchcat on our side. But is she a match for a being who is one with the shadows?
