Silly Rabbit, Kicks are for Ninjas

by Matt on April 20, 2021 at 12:01 am

With Easter just a few days away, the advertisers are out in full force. And what is their favorite creature to feature in their campaigns? The bunny, of course!

Cute, soft, lovable and peaceful. The perfect tool to sell candy. But what if bunnies didn’t have any of the previously mentioned qualities? What if they were the meanest animal in the yard?

Hazel finds out firsthand in today’s comic that the rabbit is one of nature’s creations that is not to be trifled with. Quick reflexes and powerful legs allow it to take down anything that crosses its path. With extreme prejudice.

And given the chance, it might even steal your candy …

Om Nom Nom!

Cats are terrible at sharing. They’ll fight over one bowl of food when there are clearly two full bowls left out for both of them.

The same goes for treats. I used to give both cats a treat at the same time, but Olive perfected a maneuver in which she was able to swipe the treat out from under Hazel, pop it into her mouth and swallow it whole in under two seconds.

So in this strip, Hazel invents the Shame Net. A device capable of immobilizing those who engage in troublesome behavior. If I had a Shame Net, I’d use it in movie theaters a lot. Talkers and texters would get the Net for sure. Who would you use the net on?

The Real Olive and Hazel

by Matt on April 8, 2021 at 12:01 am

So here they are. My pets and source for inspiration. They look pretty normal upon first glance, but keep watching and see how nutty they truly are.

I love Meg’s laugh at the end. The Hazel battle cry is nothing to be alarmed about, just another day at the office.

The Painting’s on the Wall

Cats wreck houses. It’s just a simple fact of life, no way around it.

What if there were no limit to the destruction they caused? I once had a funny thought of Olive speaking Italian as she created a painted masterpiece on the wall, just to play a trick on Hazel. Of course, she’s totally disregarded the fact that the wall is now ruined.

That’s the funny thing about cats. Unlike dogs, they feel no guilt.

This comic actually happens to be one of Meg’s favorites. I hope you enjoy it too.
